Since the dawn of time, it has been believed that strain and stress can be harmful to the body; however, the rigorous scientific study of this is relatively new and is rapidly expanding.
I am primarily interested in the body’s adaptive capacity and how emotional and physical stress can both wear down our physiologic systems and promote psychological disorders. This research draws from the fields of psychiatry, neurology, social epidemiology, psychosomatic medicine, and psychology. Related to this, I am interested in statistical methods for mapping out the complex interplay of socioeconomic factors, personality, social ties, and physiology in relation to physical and mental disease.
This website describes my current epidemiology research and provides a few resources I’ve put together.
Please contact me if you have questions or comments!
I am currently an Epidemiology PhD candidate focusing on psychiatric and social epidemiology at the University of Rochester School Medical Center
